Let's Talk About Thread Count

Did you know... Thread count is a textile measurement of how many horizontal (weft) and vertical (warp) threads woven into one square inch?

If there are 100 weft threads and 100 warp threads in a square inch, the sheet would yield a total thread count of 200. The August Company conscientiously chose long single ply threads with a count of 500 for our bed sheets. Researchers found that the maximum capacity of threads in one square inch is about 500 threads. Anything higher than 500 thread count means the manufacturer used a common technique that involves twisting two pieces of yarn to form a single thread that is called "double ply or 2-ply". This typically lowers the quality and durability of the product. Prior to unraveling any purchase, we advise our customers to feel the product with their hands to detect if the item sparks any admiration.
